Black-headed Python Aspidites melanocephalus (Krefft, 1864)
Type locality is Port Dennison (Bowen) in North-east Queensland. The
holotype is held in the British Museum of Natural History (UK). Aspidites
melanocephalus melanocephalus, the nominate subspecies, is herein restricted
to Queensland and most parts of the top third of the Northern Territory.
Most Black-headed Pythons in captivity are of this form.
